Addicting indeed are games on addictinggames.com. I once spent hours trying to get a penguin to fly across the snow just to beat a high score. Repeatedly I hit the enter key analyzing how, when, and even how hard to hit the key.
I pondered, "If I hit a second sooner, a split second later, when the penguin was closer, which would get the penguin to flyer farther and score me more points?" Yes, a waste of valuable time.
The site is very busy with lots of action moving across, around, and up and down the screen. The bright colored icons and the organization of the home page had me hooked and searching for a game.
Because I was able to click on a category of interest from the top of the screen, I was immediately curious to check out my area of interest - puzzles and then word games. I did find a word game of interest and was addicted for a couple of hours.
I was very discouraged upon my return to addictinggames.com because during my next attempt to waste a little time, I searched for almost an hour looking for the word game that grabbed my attention the last time I was on the site. I never did find the game.
I ended up playing other games in-between my searching attempts. Quick, addicting, and older favorite games grabbed my attention and had me playing amateurish games of little to no value. With a little work and filtering through games, there are some I find offering a mental challenge without violence. I'm always cautious with my children because there are a lot of violent games on this site. So, I won't let them on there to play - we stick to board games.
The logic puzzles and strategy category offer some learning experiences. However, it takes a lot of time and effort to find the meaningful games. Addictinggames.com is not worth my valuable time to return for games which aren't for hardcore gamers wanting more substance and complexity - a challenge, to strategize, to use creativity, or to delve into more abstract thinking.
